The PMBRC at Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) and WIT’s four-year BSc (Hons) in Pharmaceutical Science have been shortlisted in this year’s Pharma Industry Awards
The winners will be revealed on Thursday, November 11th, 2021.
The PMBRC has been shortlisted in two categories: 1. Research & Development Achievement Award & 2. Pharma Research Centre of the Year, a title it claimed last year for the first time.
The BSc (Hons) in Pharmaceutical Science is shortlisted in the Pharma Education & Training Award.
Launched in 2014, the Pharma Industry Awards is the long-standing award programme for recognising and celebrating the most original and innovative individuals and companies that demonstrate excellence in Ireland’s pharma industry.
Dr. Niall O’Reilly, PMBRC Manager said: “We are delighted to be shortlisted in two categories at the Pharma Awards. While the last 12 months have been challenging, we managed to keep our operations going throughout the pandemic and took the opportunity to develop our laboratory infrastructure and research programmes. We have a number of new, exciting projects underway on the detection and treatment of viral infections and we look forward to new developments in all of our research projects in the upcoming year”.
The PMBRC is no stranger to awards having picked up the R&D Achievement prize in 2017 and 2019. The Centre also won the ‘Outstanding Academic Achievement Award in the field of Digital Technology’ at the 2019 Technology Ireland Awards in collaboration with WIT’s TSSG research centre.
The four-year BSc (Hons) in Pharmaceutical Science previously won the Pharma Education & Training Award in the Pharma Industry Awards 2017.
Dr. Claire Lennon, course leader said “The programme team have worked extremely hard over the past year to adapt our in person learning experience to online in response to the pandemic and support our students during this difficult time. It is an honour to be nominated for this prestigious Award”.
