Job Title:  Research Scientist (Biochemistry)

Minimum Qualification Required:  PhD in Biochemistry, Biology or Chemistry

 

Major Duties:

  • To develop surface functionalisation techniques for biosensor technologies
  • The transfer of commercial immunoassays to plasmon resonance based senor technology
  • Assist in the experimental verification of system performance.
  • Preparation of technical reports.
  • Liaise with and communicate project outputs to industrial and commercial clients.

 

Person Specification:

 

Academic Qualifications:

Essential:   PhD in Biochemistry, Biology or Chemistry

Desirable:   3 years post qualification experience in sensor development

 

Experience:

Essential:   Experience in the development of immunoassay techniques & Experience in developing novel biosensor technologies

Desirable:   Experience in the development of SPR based biosensor technology

 

Specific Knowledge and Skills:

Essential:   Immunoassays, surface functionalisation  

Desirable:   Surface Plasmon Resonance, Nanolithography, Atomic Force Microscopy 

 

Specific Personal Qualities:

Essential:   Team work, accountability, motivated, self-starter
