PMBRC scoops top R&D prize at Pharma Industry Awards

Niall O'Reilly and Claire Lennon of the PMBRC accept the award for Research and Developemnt Achievement at the 2017 Pharma Industry Awards in Dublin

The PMBRC were winners of the Research and Development Achievement award at the 2017 Pharma Industry Awards, held in Dublin last Thursday. Since launching in 2014, the Pharma Industry Awards has established itself as the benchmark for excellence for those operating in Ireland's pharma industry. The Research and Development Achievement award recognises an individual or teams working in the pharmaceutical sector on the research and commercial development of new products or new processes.

“We are delighted to win the Research and Development prize at the Pharma Awards” said Niall O’Reilly, PMBRC Manager, speaking after the awards ceremony on Thursday night. “We have been working to build up the research capability in the pharmaceutical sciences in WIT for the past decade. To be recognised by our peers for our research achievements means a lot to everyone involved here.

In what turned out to be a good night for Waterford Institute of Technology, the B.Sc. (Hons) in Pharmaceutical Science degree won the Education and Training award. And there was further success for Waterford when local companies Sanofi and EirGen won the Biotech and SME Pharma Company of the Year awards respectively. Sanofi also won the overall Pharma Company of the Year prize.
