Peter McLoughlin Appointed WIT Head of Research

Principal Investigator and co-founder of the PMBRC, Dr Peter McLoughlin, has been appointed Head of Research, Innovation and Graduate Studies at Waterford Institute of Technology. Peter joined the institute as lecturer and course leader in 1993. In 2008, he became Head of the Department of Science, which he positioned as one of the top science departments in the country. He continued to develop this area and computer science when he was appointed head of the School of Science & Computing in 2014.

Announcing the appointment, WIT President Prof Willie Donnelly said, “Peter's track record as an academic, researcher and postgraduate student supervisor is outstanding.  During his time as Head of Department, he founded the Pharmaceutical and Molecular Biotechnology Research Centre (PMBRC), which is not only one of the Institutes leading research centres, but also a leader nationally and internationally. Peter will bring vision, leadership, energy and enthusiasm to his new role.”
