HIPODERM is an EU Framework Programme 7 funded project under the Marie-Curie Industry and Academia Partnership and Pathways programme (IAPP). WIT is the lead partner on this collaborative research project along with Cardiff University, An-eX Analytical Services Ltd (Cardiff), and EirGen Pharma (Waterford). Each partner has specialist skills and HIPODERM encompasses these skills into one research project.

The project focuses on the development of novel transdermal drug delivery systems for treatment of conditions such as skin cancer using novel, patient-friendly techniques. More specifically, it is aimed at delivering the drug to the required site in the skin non-invasively and with minimal side effects. To date, the project has generated three invention disclosures, nine international conference proceedings as well as a number of academic publications currently in press.
